Ratwarlock’s AION FAQ

17 09 2009

I’ve compiled a non-comprehensive list of points in regards to Aion.  This has been compiled based off of fansite forums, Aion Twitter updates, and official Aion website announcements.  I’ll perhaps add to it over the next few days.

I don’t see my key has been applied, why?

  • If you purchased through the NCsoft store, you will have immeidately received a link in your browser, as well as a corresponding email with the same link, and your key, which allows you to automatically apply your key to your account.
  • If you purchased from a 3rd party vendor, such as Direct2Drive, you will need to check your D2D account, and your email, for the key, and apply it manually by logging into your Master Account at NCsoft, and going into account management.
  • If you pre-ordered from a retailer, you may have to wait until the physical box arrives to get the key, or your retailer may have provided you with a separate pre-order key at the time you placed your pre-order.  You should call the retailer to find out what their policy and process is, as most will vary.  Once you have your key, you can apply it manually as described above.

How do I get my special items?
Follow these steps:

1. Log into NCsoft Account Management.
2. Click the Game Accounts link.
3. Choose your Aion game account listed on the Game Accounts page.
4. Click the Apply In-Game Items link in the Actions section.
5. Select the server your preferred character is on and click the Next button.
6. Select the character you wish to receive the items and click the Next button.
7. You will then see a list of all the items or item packs that may be applied to that character. Click the checkbox next to the item pack(s) you wish to apply to that character and then click the Next button.
8. Review the confirmation page and then click the Apply the Items/Item Packs to this Character button.

Is there an RP (roleplaying) server?

    • Lumiel. This is an unofficial designation but was decided upon based on community feedback and posted on the Aion website, as such.

Can I have an Elysian and an Asmodian character on the same server?
No, these are opposing factions, and choice is limited to one race per server.  You may, however, switch select another server while creating your characters.

My race is “locked” from creation on the server I want to play on, what do I do?
This is not permanent. As people create characters on any one server, the races are locked periodically to prevent too many of one race being created.  This is to ensure a healthy balance between the two factions.  It is only temporary. As the population levels out, your race will be unlocked, again.  Give it some time and check back.

In regards to this policy, here is what the Aion team comments:

    • Temporarily Locked indicates that a server currently is full and that we for some time need to halt character creation. Don’t worry – as other servers fill up and the overall situation balances out, it may soon be unlocked. It is important for us that a few servers are not left overcrowded and others empty.
    • Elyos/Asmodian Only indicates that one race is currently too large on a server and that we have been required to temporarily only allow characters from the other side. Don’t worry – as the two sides balance out, the one that is disabled may soon again become enabled.

    I can’t login?
Launch is a busy time for MMO’s, and some waiting queues are to be expected.  If you attempt to login and are given the message that the server is full, be patient.  Queues usually dwindle at a faster rate than what is estimated.  In a few days’ time, you will not need to wait.  But remember, everyone else is as excited and anxious to try out the game as you are!

Not long, particularly not if you play extended hours. :) I would say 1 – 2 weeks if you play a few hours per night, give or take. But it will vary depending on your style … they are looking into adjusting the experience curve to make it less of a grind …
